“Sacred Threads” Exhibition Opens September 13
The Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford is pleased to announce the opening of Sacred Threads: Religious Vestments from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
This special exhibition invites visitors to discover sacred Ukrainian textiles dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These remarkable religious vestments reflect centuries of Ukrainian faith, artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural memory.
The exhibition also shares the extraordinary story of how these historic vestments were rescued at auction and brought to Stamford, where they have been carefully preserved as part of the Museum’s collection. Their survival allows us to encounter not only the beauty of Ukrainian sacred art but also the enduring strength of a heritage that has survived displacement, destruction, and the passage of time.
