Religious Collection
The Religious collection, consisting of icons from the 17th to the 20th century, includes icons painted by Mykhailo Osinchuk, by Christine Dochwat, Petro Cholodny the elder and Petro Cholodny the younger, and Sviatoslav Hordynsky. There are folk icons painted on the reverse of glass as well as 19th-century hand crosses and candelabra (triitsi) carved by untrained peasant artisans. A number of priestly vestments are included in the collection, the most valuable of which, from the 18th century, was purchased at an auction in New York in 1970 and originally came from the Monastery of the Caves in Kyiv. There are also various church vessels, such as chalices, a baptismal basin and pitcher, and metal crosses.
