Library Collection
Our Library holds over 60,000 books and periodicals including some very rare and unique publications. Among them are printed books: Festal Triodion printed by Fiol in Krakow in 1491; a Gospel from 1636 printed by the Stavropegion Brotherhood in Lviv; Anthologion also printed in Lviv in 1643 and others. Among rare later publications are: Halytska Zoria for the year 1848, and Tserkovna Hazeta from 1856 which was published in Budapest. The library is rich in Shevchenkiana (Shevchenko’s texts and works). We are proud to own the first edition of the Kobzar from 1840 and other singular editions.
Beside books and periodicals, the library also has both personal and organizational archival collections. We have the individual archives of: Dr. J. Padoch, Dr. M. Chubaty, Dr. W. Lencyk, Maria Klachko, and others. We also have archives of organizations such as: Ukrainian Catholic Youth League, Ukrainian Catholic War Relief Committee, Ukrainian Millenium of Christianity celebration archives, and many more.
The Library also has a substantial photograph collection which mostly depicts cultural, religious, and political activities of Ukrainians in the United States. A special part of the photograph collection is close to 4,000 glass negative slides of the Sichovi Striltsi (Ukrainian Army of World War I).
The Library also has a collection of Ukrainian postage stamps, Ukrainian banknotes, posters, concert programs, art exhibits, and rare maps from the 17th and 18th centuries which depict Ukrainian lands.
